ATTENTION MEMBERS: 
The American West Management has listened to it's membership and are concerned with the economy as most of you are.  Effective immediately, you only need three, (3) Qualifying runs to participate at the American West Finals in October not six, (6).  The awards rules will not change, only the necessary number of runs to participate at the 2008 Finals.

North American Thoroughbred Society Welcomes Thoroughbred Barrel Racers    American West 4D Classic Races Offer Thoroughbred Owners and Riders New Recognition Opportunities 

MADISON, NJ, April 29, 2008 – The North American Thoroughbred Society (NATBS), a company that promotes the interests of Jockey Club-registered North American Thoroughbreds, today announced that it is teaming with the American West 4D barrel racing association to recognize Thoroughbreds who compete in American West 4D Classic barrel races.  Effective immediately you as the Producer of a sanctioned American West barrel race have the options of either a 4D Payout or 5D. 

We encourage you to offer a 5D Payout if the numbers reflect 100 plus riders in the Open Class.  As Producers you have to determine what the best option for your event.  If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact the American West office.  You have a calculator to figure your payoff on the American West website: Choose a 4D or 5D payout and enter the added money, number of riders, and entry fees. http://www.aw4d.com/payoutformula/index.htm
